After breakfast we all set off for Lindisfarne/Holy island.
It seems that it's called Lindisfarne when the tide is out and Holy Island when the tide is in.
Our timing was perfect for the low tide and we drove across the causeway which took longer than expected, perhaps because many others had also decided to have a day on Lindisfarne as soon as the tide went out!
We all really enjoyed walking about the island which was bigger and flatter than we had imagined.

| I think this may represent monks carrying the coffin of St. Cuthbert, a saint whose remains they kept taking around the north of England because of constant raids in this area from the Norsemen and the Danes. You can read about St Cuthbert here |
